Day 01: Cusco City – Cloud Forest – Jungle Hikes – Pilcopata Lodge.

Our Rainforest Expeditions begins at 6.00am through the Andes from Cusco City, in a private mini van, with Wildlife Destination. first break to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca Archaeological Site. Then we will cross through the typical and Picturesque Village of Paucartambo with a quick overview of locals’ lifestyles and colourful clothes, before the entrance of Manu National Park, which is maximum altitude of 3,900m/12,790ft. F. From there we will go through The Amazon basin and Mysterious Cloud Forest such Environment filled orchids, heliconias and Primitive Ferns and at Fog Forest. After lunch we will spot the Peruvian National Bird of Peru, the cock of the rock (Rupicola Peruviana), quetzals, Amazonian Umbrella bird, Trogons (Trogon sp.)  the Biggest Monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys), some Brown Capuchin And with luck the only South American Spectacled Bear, so you can enjoy seeing the surrounding landscapes different level of mountains. In the afternoon, we arrive to   Pilcopata Village.

 DAY 02: PILLCOPATA – MACHUHUASI OXBOW LAKE – TEPARO NATIVE COMMUNITY

After breakfast We continue by van to atalaya port, on the way we will stop to Visit Coca Plantations. Also there are a nice view to see the Lowland Rainforest -350m. From Atalaya we continue by boat through the Alto Madre de Dios River to second lodge, later we will go to Visit and Discover the Wildlife the great Machuhuasi Oxbow Lake, where we will take a balsa raft and see the pre-historic Hoatzin bird and walking several hours around the lake watching caimans, herons, toucans and, monkeys. after lunch we continue by boat to santa cruz ranger station for checking our entrance. then we will take our small (wooden boat call “Peque Peque”) along the Teparo River. There the native people have different behavior with the civilization. “Palotoa Teparo” is a beautiful native community with an ethnic group of Matshiguenka that they are becoming involved in the market economy through tourism. DAY 03.- TEPARO NATIVE COMMUNITY – PETROGLYPHS OF PUSHARO.

Day of our Rainforest Expedition start early in the morning and get board our small boat and drive up this small shallow river on the way we have to push the boat, walking, etc. Until to get the pongo de Meganto, where is located the high concentration of the finest sings taped. These manifestations astonish to local, foreign and many scientist explorers, the area of Pusharo is related to the legendary PAITITI or to the lost gold city (EL DORADO). Member of the native community Palotoa Teparo consider Pusharo as territory of their ancestors and interrelation with the petroglyphs, still up until a few years ago as a part of their rituals associated with events collection hunting.  Night in Camping Site River Bank.

DAY 04.- PETROGLYPHS OF PUSHARO – TEPARO NATIVE COMMUNITY.

With a Great Typical breakfast, we will Explore into the Wild Rainforest looking another Petroglyphs and learning why the Incas made the Mysterious figures, always Enjoying of the Exotic Animals. After this Fantastic time, we are going to return to Native Community by canoe, Swimming, Fishing and watching the Wildlife in the Primary Forest and sure we will Enjoy the crystalline fresh water of Jungle River.

Day 05.- Teparo Native Community – Parrot Clay Lick – Jungle Hot Springs – Rainforest Lodge.

We will leave early to Visit the great Parrots Clay Lick to see hundreds of parakeets and small Macaws eating Salts Minerals. Then boat ride with short stop in Shintuya Native Community to Enjoy the Natural Medicine Hot Spring. also may stop frequently to see wildlife in the way we will return to our last lodge.

Day 06.- Rainforest Lodge –  Atalaya – Claud Forest Cusco.

Guided morning walks along the forest to look for the macaws and Enjoy a tasty breakfast and get ready to pack. we leave from our ecolodge to Atalaya by boat Then by private van to Cusco. drop off close to main square. Approx. 5pm

SOME FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Yes, it is open the whole year. The best time to visit is from April to November during the dry season. The heavy rainy season is from February to March, when access by both road and air becomes more difficult and when trails in the forest can become flooded.

In Southern Peru there have been reported yellow fever, malaria and leishmaniasis, but so far no tourists who visited Manu have reported getting any tropical diseases. However, there is always a possibility, so we recommend following the instructions of your doctor.

The amount will depend on the time of day, but as in any Amazon region, there will be mosquitoes. We suggest to wear repellent if needed and long-sleeved shirts and long trousers.

It is not a requirement, but one should be able to walk a trail of several kilometres to fully enjoy what Manu has to offer.

Your tour operator will provide drinking water. Some use the bottled water that is brought from the nearest cities and others with filters and / or boiling to purify the water from small springs or the river to make it fit for human consumption. Consult your travel agent for more information.

Tourist sites are located in the tourist and recreational area of the Manu River. In these spaces, each concessionaire has built ecolodge or adequate and comfortable shelters. They offer services like: dining room, bathrooms, showers and some short ways of connection between all the structures. All beds have mosquito nets to prevent mosquito or insect bites. The details of each hostel are diferent.

The National Park is a Protected Natural Area owned and managed by the Peruvian state as part of the national system of protected areas of Peru ((Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado en el Perú – SINANPE). Its objective is to protect and preserve intact ecosystems, which may contain a High biological and aesthetic diversity and landscape of relevant interest, where activities of indirect use can be done as: research, education, tourism and recreation.

The Biosphere Reserve is a representative ecological area with three self-complementary functions: scientific research, conservation and sustainable development. Today, the Manu Biosphere Reserve is divided into a nuclear zone represented by the territory of the Manu National Park, a buffer zone and a transition zone.
