Many of our clients come looking for this species of bird, the tunqui, named after the inhabitants of the Peruvian Amazon. Its beauty in plumage makes it stand out among many birds in addition to its way of courting in mating season. The cock of the rocks lives in the Andes of the Peruvian Amazon, if you are in Cusco the closest place where you can see it is in the Manu National Park, between 2400 masl and 500 masl.
This bird is currently in danger of extinction as a result of illegal animal trafficking, therefore the observation sites are protected by the government, which is an advantage for this bird.
Where can I watch them?
