Day 01: Cusco City – Cloud Forest – Manu Avatar Lodge.

Our Amazon Tours begins at 6.00am through the Andes from Cusco City, in a private minivan, with jungle Destination. first break to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca Archaeological Site. Then we will cross through the typical and Picturesque Village of Paucartambo with a quick overview of locals’ lifestyles and colourful clothes, before the entrance of Manu National Park, which is maximum altitude of 3,900m/12,790ft. F. From there we will go into the Mysterious Cloud Forest such Environment filled orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns and at Fog Forest. After lunch we will spot the Peruvian National Bird of Peru, the cock of the rock (Rupicola Peruviana), quetzals, Amazonian Umbrella bird, Trogons (Trogon sp.)  the Biggest Monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys), some Brown Capuchin And with luck the only South American Spectacled Bear, so you can enjoy seeing the surrounding landscapes different level of mountains. then We continue by van to Atalaya port with nice view to see the Lowland Rainforest then by boat we navigate 40 minutes aprox. to our lodge. Evening optional night walk.

Day 02: – Manu Avatar Lodge – Manu River  Otrorongo Oxbow Lake – Casa Matchiguenka Lodge

You will Wake up with the singing of Amazonian Birds for the breakfast time Then we will navigate down by boat through this crystalline river of Madre de Dios. Exploring the Wildlife along the Madre Dios river will ramble through the primary forest searching for some families of capybaras, birds, monkeys, the Brazilian tapir, perhaps the firs chance to see the jaguar. Boat Trip continue through the Rio Manu with brief stop at Limonal Park Ranger Station and then one will be able to understand why Manu National Park is so famous for its Wildlife. On the river edges you will observe groups of turtles, white Caimans (Caiman cocodrylus), Capybaras (Hydrochaeris) and maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log and observing its territory. In the afternoon we will Explore the largest Otorongo Oxbow Lake and the Giant Otter Observation Tower several hours walking around the lake together with the guide to learn the functions and secrets of the Tropical Rainforest. overnight at Casa Matchiguenka Lodge with night walk.

Day 03: Salvador oxbow Lake- Macaw Clay Lick – full Jungle Hike.

The Exciting trip begins with full of sightings experiences to Visit the Salvador Oxbow Lake by Catamaran, there paddling silently you have again possibilities to observe the Population of Giant Otters fishing Piranhas and many different rare Bird Life, like the Hoatzins (Opisthocomus hoatzin), interesting raptors, Agami herons, colorful macaws oropendolas and caciques, just floating around the lake will be one of the joys of the trip After. Here in Manu National Park the animals have never suffered hunting pressure from man. After breakfast we will Visit the great Macaw Clay Lick to see the colorful macaws, parquets eating salt minerals.

Day 04: Casa Matsiguenka Lodge –- Brasco Oxbow Lake – Shipitiari Native Community – tapir clay lick .

The call of the Red Howler monkeys (Alouatta seniculus) After a good breakfast unfortunately we have to begin our return to Boca Manu, This will be again another opportunity for catching a glimpse of the Magnificent  of Great Wildlife along the Manu River, the group might see, capybaras, tapir and the famous jaguar. we will visit the Brasco Oxbow Lake to watch Giant Otters, monkeys and sloth. In the afternoon the group arrives to our lodge then We spent the night there. After dinner we will Visit the Tapirs Clay Lick- there you will wait in front of it salt-lick-muddy pool to spot Tapir eating Salt Minerals. at the most active tapir lick in Peru Amazon. Who come to this lick to eat clay from under the tree roots around the edge, who eat to neutralize toxins in the vegetarian diet.  The Tapir is considered the largest land animal from South America.   This Tapir Experience is unique and exciting because these normally very shy creatures are visible up close, we will wait in silent anywhere from 30 minutes to two or  more hours, when the first Tapir arrives at which point your tour guide gently awakens you to watch the Tapir 10-20m/33-66ft) away below the platform with luck we will see animals during the Night Walk, like ocelots and owls, Then way back to the Lodge.

Day 05: Shipitiari Native Community – Shintuya Hot spring  – Mau Avatar Lodge

Today we are  Exploring into the Primary Forest, together a Huge Ceiba Trees the mother of the Peru Jungle. Trough the Tropical Dry Forest researching macaws, toucans, snakes, maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log. After lunch we will Enjoy Jungle Clay Therapy Healing and swimming in the Manu National Park River. Always looking some Exotic Birds as a toucan’s trumpeters, especially for Bird Watchers and searching for some families of monkeys, peccaries, deer’s the Largest Red Howler Monkey, Brown Capuchin, Spider monkey, white fronted capuchin, tamarins, wooly monkey. After lunch we will Visit the Shintuya hot sprint we will star the Jungle Hike up to water falls to Enjoy the natural water pools then you will finish with natural medicine hot sprint. Then way back to to our lodge researching animals on the river bank. Evening optional night walk.

  Day 06: Manu Avatar Lodge –Atalaya – Claud Forest – Cusco.

Early morning we get ready to pack. we leave from our lodge to Atalaya by boat researching animals along the Madre de Dios river then with our car through the cloud forest with private van to Cusco. drop off you in your hotel square. Approx. 5pm

SOME FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Yes, it is open the whole year. The best time to visit is from April to November during the dry season. The heavy rainy season is from February to March, when access by both road and air becomes more difficult and when trails in the forest can become flooded.

In Southern Peru there have been reported yellow fever, malaria and leishmaniasis, but so far no tourists who visited Manu have reported getting any tropical diseases. However, there is always a possibility, so we recommend following the instructions of your doctor.

The amount will depend on the time of day, but as in any Amazon region, there will be mosquitoes. We suggest to wear repellent if needed and long-sleeved shirts and long trousers.

It is not a requirement, but one should be able to walk a trail of several kilometres to fully enjoy what Manu has to offer.

Your tour operator will provide drinking water. Some use the bottled water that is brought from the nearest cities and others with filters and / or boiling to purify the water from small springs or the river to make it fit for human consumption. Consult your travel agent for more information.

Tourist sites are located in the tourist and recreational area of the Manu River. In these spaces, each concessionaire has built ecolodge or adequate and comfortable shelters. They offer services like: dining room, bathrooms, showers and some short ways of connection between all the structures. All beds have mosquito nets to prevent mosquito or insect bites. The details of each hostel are diferent.

The National Park is a Protected Natural Area owned and managed by the Peruvian state as part of the national system of protected areas of Peru ((Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado en el Perú – SINANPE). Its objective is to protect and preserve intact ecosystems, which may contain a High biological and aesthetic diversity and landscape of relevant interest, where activities of indirect use can be done as: research, education, tourism and recreation.

The Biosphere Reserve is a representative ecological area with three self-complementary functions: scientific research, conservation and sustainable development. Today, the Manu Biosphere Reserve is divided into a nuclear zone represented by the territory of the Manu National Park, a buffer zone and a transition zone.
