Amazon Tours Manu National Park Tour 4 days

ITINERARY

Day 01: Cusco – Cloud Forest– Humming Bird Garden – Low amazon ( Manu Avatar Lodge)- 360.msnm

The  Amazon Tours start at 6.00am from Cusco city in a private mini van, with Rainforest Destination. First break to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca. Then we will cross through the typical and folkloric town of Paucartambo with a short stop, before the entrance of Manu National Park, which is maximum altitude of 3,400m. From there we will go dawn into the Mysterious Cloud Forest with shore walks researching wild animals, birds and some mammals, full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns and at Fog Forest. After lunch we will spot the National Bird of Peru, the cock of the rock (Rupicola Peruvian), quetzals, Amazonian Umbrella bird, Trogons (Trogon sp.)  the Biggest Monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys), some Brown Capuchin And with luck the only South American Spectacled Bear. In the afternoon we continue to Atalaya port -350m, on the way we will stop to Visit a beautiful colibris garden to see different kind of humming birds, tanagers, oropendolas, king vulture, toucan and Coca Plantations. Also there are a nice view to see the Lowland Rainforest. From Atalaya we continue by boat through the Alto Madre de Dios River to our lodge Top Manu Avatar Lodge .3.50pm approx. Evening – Night walk.

Day 02: Manu Avatar Lodge – Hiking Primary Forest –  Machuhuasi Oxbow Lake.

Today we have the first chance to see the parrot clay lick if the weather conditions its good, if not after breakfast we are hiking more than 2hours half into the primary forest researching wild animals our target will be monkeys, toucans’ sloth, snakes and caimans with luck we will see capibaras on the river bank then we are coming back to our lodge for lunch hour. Then Always you have some free time and you will be alert if some humming birds, toucans or monkeys come to the lodge. Recommended good photographer camera.

In the afternoon we will walk toward to great Machuhuasi Oxbow Lake, where we will take a balsa raft and see the pre-historic Hoatzin bird and the Largest Rodent in the World (Capybaras). walking several hours around the lake watching caimans, herons, oropendolas, toucans and, monkeys until sunset.  In the evening we have night walk around the lodge aprox 40 minutes or more according the weather conditions, , frogs, snake , spiders or tarantulas, owls and so many night insects , luckily ocelot or tapir. 

 Day 03: Parrots Clay Lick –  Primary Forest – Giant Trees  – Boat Ride In Amazon River

We will leave early by boat through the Manu River almost 30 minutes, with lucky may see the Largest Rodent in the World – Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) or Brazilian Tapir(Tapirus terrestris).   Then we will Visit the great Parrots Clay Lick to see hundreds of parakeets and small Macaws eating Salts Minerals.

After breakfast  we have 03 hours to Explore into the Primary Forest, a different trail , hiking with giant trees like ceiba tree which is mother of the jungle, maybe will meet with emerald boa or rainbow boa in many times we saw in  those trails.  we don’t know exactly what animals we will see but every group have different activity’s but we have good chance to see animals in wildlife, tamarins, deer, squirrel monkys, spider monkey, wild pig, slot, snakes, toucans, wild turkeys,  macaws,  maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log. After lunch we will go downstream by boat to see more wildlife and take some pictures of beautiful amazon landscapes or we can go to do the  Clay Therapy Healing and swimming in the Manu National Park River. we can practice how the native people drive arrow and bow or we can go for fishing in the amazon river. Optional night walk .

 Day 04: Manu Avatar Lodge – Atalaya Port – Cloud Forest – Cusco.

Enjoy a tasty breakfast early and get ready to pack, we leave from our lodge to Atalaya by boat Then by private van to Cusco. Guided day exploring along the forest to look for the macaws and monkeys. drop off in your hotel. Approx. 5pm.
