Day 01 Cusco City – Cloud Forest – Jungle Hikes – Pillcopata Lodge.

The Manu Rainforest Tour leave at 6.00am through the Andes from Cusco City, in a private bus. First break to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca Archaeological Site. Then we will cross through the typical and Picturesque Village of Paucartambo with a quick overview of locals  lifestyles and colourful clothes, before the entrance of Manu National Park, which is maximum altitude of 3,900m/12,790ft. From there we will go through The Amazon basin and Mysterious Cloud Forest such Environment filled orchids, heliconias and Primitive Ferns and at Fog Forest.

After lunch we will spot the Peruvian National Bird of Peru, the cock of the rock (Rupicola Peruviana), quetzals, Amazonian Umbrella bird, Trogons (Trogon sp.) the Biggest Monkey in Peru (woolly monkeys), some Brown Capuchin and with luck the only South American Spectacled Bear, so you can enjoy seeing the surrounding landscapes different level of mountains. In the afternoon, we arrive to our jungle lodge.

Day 02 Pilcopata lodge – Manu Rainforest Lodge – Boat Ride – Jungle Hikes – Machuhuasi Oxbow Lake.

You will Wake up with the singing of rainforest Birds, some of those creatures are endemic to the Amazon region, so being able to see them in their natural habitat is quite spectacular.

After breakfast we continue by van to Atalaya port, on the way we will stop to Visit Coca Plantations. Also you will enjoy the last view to see the Lowland of peruvian amazon.

Then we will navigate down by boat through the amazon river of Madre de Dios from the water to the depths of the jungle, our active travelers will find plenty to do here exploring the Wildlife and the great Machuhuasi Oxbow Lake, where we will take a balsa raft and see the pre-historic Hoatzin bird and Hiking around the lake you will ramble through the primary forest searching for some families of monkeys, peccaries, caimans in the meantime, you will be provided with some explanations about medicinal plants, reptiles as well as mammals perhaps Capybaras the Largest Rodent in the World.

Walking several hours around the lake watching Alligators, herons, oropendolas, toucans and, monkeys until sunset. After dark Jungle Night Walks.

Day 03 Manu Rainforest Lodge – Parrots Clay Lick – Atalaya Port – Cloud Forest – Cusco.

We will leave early to Visit the great Parrots Clay Lick to see hundreds of parakeets and small Macaws eating Salts Minerals.
Guided morning to look for the macaws and Enjoy a tasty breakfast and get ready to pack. we leave from our lodge to Atalaya by boat Then by private van to Cusco. drop off close to main square. Approx. 5pm

SOME FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Yes, it is open the whole year. The best time to visit is from April to November during the dry season. The heavy rainy season is from February to March, when access by both road and air becomes more difficult and when trails in the forest can become flooded.

In Southern Peru there have been reported yellow fever, malaria and leishmaniasis, but so far no tourists who visited Manu have reported getting any tropical diseases. However, there is always a possibility, so we recommend following the instructions of your doctor.

The amount will depend on the time of day, but as in any Amazon region, there will be mosquitoes. We suggest to wear repellent if needed and long-sleeved shirts and long trousers.

It is not a requirement, but one should be able to walk a trail of several kilometres to fully enjoy what Manu has to offer.

Your tour operator will provide drinking water. Some use the bottled water that is brought from the nearest cities and others with filters and / or boiling to purify the water from small springs or the river to make it fit for human consumption. Consult your travel agent for more information.

Tourist sites are located in the tourist and recreational area of the Manu River. In these spaces, each concessionaire has built ecolodge or adequate and comfortable shelters. They offer services like: dining room, bathrooms, showers and some short ways of connection between all the structures. All beds have mosquito nets to prevent mosquito or insect bites. The details of each hostel are diferent.

The National Park is a Protected Natural Area owned and managed by the Peruvian state as part of the national system of protected areas of Peru ((Sistema Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado en el Perú – SINANPE). Its objective is to protect and preserve intact ecosystems, which may contain a High biological and aesthetic diversity and landscape of relevant interest, where activities of indirect use can be done as: research, education, tourism and recreation.

The Biosphere Reserve is a representative ecological area with three self-complementary functions: scientific research, conservation and sustainable development. Today, the Manu Biosphere Reserve is divided into a nuclear zone represented by the territory of the Manu National Park, a buffer zone and a transition zone.
